Hello, a choice had to be made and the layout is no more. I have decided to redesign the space and replace the existing layout with an On30 layout that incorporates the On30 modules. Untill I can find the time to resign this space, please pop over to the On30 page I have set up. https://www.facebook.com/snaggletooth.railway

 Cheers,

Peter

An On30 kit build

This is the first completed rolling stock in On30. A nice reefer kit from on30ima.com The Devil's Brew will be produced at a proposed distillery on the On30 layout.

Goodbye pink foam.

Yes it is true, even more pink foam has disappeared. Work has progressed on the lumber yard, yard and some forest area.

Working on the yard.

Laid some of the last track and installed the turn table and roundhouse. Still need to finish painting the turn table and details on the roundhouse. Also finished the lumber yard main building. Again, details in the future.

New Backdrops

Hello,

I have added some backdrops to the HO layout. They really improved the layout adding both interest and depth. Here are some shots of Snaggletooth River, Vulcan and the new Yard.

Hexenkessel Chemical plant update

Hello,

I have been doing some scenery work on the chemical plant. Slowly working my way back towards the yard. This blog needs a lot of updates and some things re-done, including the track plan, which finally, is finalized. In the meantime, enjoy the update photos. One thing you will see is the fact that backdrops have been put in place, which I must admit has added a lot to the layout.

So some progress is being made. The yard is laid and wired and all track is 95% laid. I still have the turntable,  caboose storage and work train storage tracks ad well as the engine terminal but all main line and the yard is down. Right now I am working on finishing the scenery at the chemical plant so I can focus on the new bits. Eventually I will revamp and clean up this whole site. Until then, some photos.  Cheers,

Peter.

It has been a while...

But I have not been idle.
Read my latest update here http://sld-nmra.ca/mail_car/mail_car.htm

I have also started work on the On30 modules. I am taking this one a little slower than I did with the HO, not that building the HO version was done in 7 days. In fact  I have just finished the last 8 feet of bench work. With the On30 modules being much smaller in scope I am planning to do more scratch building and much more planning before setting out.

Well a small update but an update none the less.

Snaggletooth River Module - a new life

Well, the time has come to retire Snaggletooth River from a life on the road. I noticed this past weekend at Ottawa Train Expo that the scenery was looking a little tiered. That said, I have also decided how I would turn the corner.

Friday, March 15, 2013

Hello,

Well, On30 has encouraged me to take the plunge into scratch building. This is my first building. I have learned a lot from just one wall and what I have done so far.

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Well I broke down and entered the world of On30. This will be in addition to my HO layout and will be set around 1939 near the beginning of the Snaggletooth River Railway journey.

Cheers,

Peter

Working on the train room

I have been taking the time to "finish" the train room. Although my lighting situation could use some work, the walls had priority.

As you can see in the photos I have painted the walls a soft blue and added wall brackets. I can do this as the modules are light.
